You came home. And when you came in your "brother", Antonio ran into the hall. He wasn't really your brother. You just known him for such a long time that you call each other "brother" and "sister." "¿Donde estabas, hermanita?" he asked you. "That's not your business, is it?" you replied back. "What have you been doing?," he said. You shrugged. "Do I have to answer that?" "Is it wrong for me to worry about my hermana?" he asked. You stayed quiet. "If there nothing to feel guilty about then contesta me ," he said. "You're overprotective, hermano estupido!" you yelled. "I was at a club activity!"
"You don't have one," he replied back.
"I was out drinking."
"You're too young."
"Um, I was at a pajama party?"
"I thought you didn't like those?"
"I was at a poetry slam."
"You can't bear poetry."
"Giving a blood donation."
"Chica, you're not that nice."
"What do you think I was doing?" you asked. "You think I was with my boyfriend?" But I don't even have one . . .
"I just finished cleaning the house, hermana," Antonio called out to you. You narrowed your eyes. "You didn't go into my room, did you?" "I found a lindo package in your room," he said. "And? What about it?" you replied back. "Did you get this from this from an hombre or plan to give it to one. If there is nothing to feel guilty about then contesta me." "You're overprotective, hermano estupido!" you yelled. "It's my school uniform!" "You don't wrap that up," he replied back.
"Already wrapped up."
"It's our gift to Ludwig's dogs."
"You don't need to wrap it up like that."
"It's a bomb."
"¡Tu eres loca! Don't wrap that up!"
"Kidding. How about Alfred?"
"He's too big to fit in there."
"You're thinking it's a present for my boyfriend?" you asked. He looked away, blushing. But I don't even have one. . .
You were in the bathroom taking a shower, and as you did, you thought, Antonio, you are the one I always liked. When you were done, you went to your room. As you passed to go to your closet, you saw the picture of you and Antonio when you were little. You sighed and picked it up. I'll tell you one day, you thought. So, why don't you just notice it already, hermano estupido! You changed and grabbed the package and went to living room, where Antonio was sitting. "Um, hermano, can you look over here?" you asked. He looked at you. You held out the package. "What was actually inside the package was a shirt I thought I would look nice on you." He took the package. "¿Que es esto?" You smiled. "It's for you." His eyes widened. "Could today be . . ." You grinned. "That's right." You hugged him. "I'm sorry I was late yesterday. I was out because I was buying this. Happy Birthday, hermano." He tilted your head up and kissed you on the lips. He tasted like tomatoes (no surprise there.) When he pulled away he said, "Te amo, _____." You leaned your head on his shoulder and said, "I love you too, Toni."
Guess you aren't brother and sister anymore.
The next day you saw Antonio wearing the shirt you gave him. You smiled. "Do you like it?" He gave you hug. "I love it. Gracias, ______."
On his shirt was a tomato. Of course he loves it.
